Let Talk Porn – Part 1

I hate porn. I really do and I’ve got plenty of reasons to.

It’s not just because of its links to modern slavery across the world today; it’s not just because of its warping of sexual expectations contributing to the increase of the sexual abuse of teenage girls in relationships; it’s not just because it reduces girls and women in the eyes of young men to objects to be acted upon

All of these things are evil birthed from our interaction with porn (and the sexualised media) and all of them give me reasons to hate it but I hate porn mostly for a different, more personal reason.

In the last few years the issue of pornography has come to the surface a lot more both in the Church and in the world as we’re starting to see its long-term effects. As a young Christian struggling with porn addiction I’d previously believed that I was alone in my struggle but quickly found that the stats say pretty much the opposite.

As I learned that I was one of apparently a small percentage of Christian guys who’d fought a porn addiction and made it out of the other side, I decided to post my testimony online to encourage some folks.

And I did.

That was terrifying, seriously.

I was prepared for so many different outcomes. The response was amazing and made something that was really scary a lot easier so special thanks to all who contacted me! I love you!

Since then I’ve felt the need to cut a bit deeper into this taboo topic and share some more practical insights into the dangers and trappings of porn addiction and getting free while developing a closer relationship with God. I’ve come to realise along with everyone else that pornography addiction is really not a male-specific problem but there are are plenty of ladies who struggle too.

So reader, whoever you are, my hope is to be able to provide you with helpful statistics, resources, authors and books, Bible verses and guest speakers from youtube to help you or anyone you know who may be struggling to help equip you to experience freedom from the grip of porn addiction and restore a passion for personal purity to your life in body and mind. Whether you’re a boy or a girl, a man or a woman, single or married, I want to share principles that I pray will help you to walk free!

P.S if you’re not a Christian and you’re wondering why I’m making such a big deal out of this, feel free to read along with the posts and I think you’ll see!

  1. mate I can say that porn has a horrible affect on the opposite sex after 7 years of marriage and dipping in and out of it for that extra bit of pleasure, its not good- as when the truth came out my wife thought it was disgusting foul and that it de-graded her as a woman, now I find my self regretting , feeling guilt and saying Lord forgive me for my addiction….it was like poison to the soul….I pray no one ever gos what I go through even thou probs many will…..God bless u Tony
